Austin Hayes Pays Tribute to Retiring Staff-Member
1st October 2010
Bill Beckett – who lives in Queensbury, Bradford – spent nine years with Austin Hayes, who specialise in the refurbishment of munitions cases, and his retirement was marked with the presentation of a long service certificate, gifts and lunch with close colleagues at nearby Murgatroyds.
The gifts included a gold Stanley knife, in recognition of the tool he used most at work.
During his nine years with the company, Bill worked in every department, including shot-blasting, painting and final inspection, and became a much liked member of the team. This was reflected by the whole workforce gathering to wish him well as he left.
He said:
“I am incredibly grateful to Austin Hayes for giving me the opportunity to work for them. When I lost my previous job I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find anything else as I was 56. I am especially grateful to Steve, Billy and Jay who have looked after me and made me feel part of the team at all times. I have really enjoyed working here and have made a lot of friends.”
Steve Graves, Production Director, said:
“We are sad to see Bill leave as he has always worked hard, proving himself willing and able to tackle all that was asked of him. He is highly regarded and respected by his colleagues.”
